How to increase Inbox folder size in Outlook express
June 21st, 20102 Comments
Hi, I’m using Outlook Express 6 as a Email Client on Windows XP. Suddenly, whenever I attempted to start Outlook Express and open INBOX folder, the following error message was displayed: Folder could not be displayed. Outlook express could not open this folder. Possible causes are: Low disk space. Low memory.
So, I googled about this error and found that maximum file size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express is 2 gigabytes (GB). When, I checked my inbox.dbx file size it was around 1.75GB. So I tried deleting emails from deleted, sent, outbox folders but of no use. After doing this also its not restored. I was not taken backup at all. I found DBXtract 4.5 stand alone utility that is designed to extract emails out of corrupt Outlook Express databases (.dbx) and turn them into individual .eml files. This tool helped me a lot to extract most of the mails.
After going through lot of forums, I found that, there is no option to increase the OE .dbx file size, So I recommend that you regularly back up your critical data files in Outlook Express to help prevent data loss. Follow the steps given in below link –
To configure the size limit for both (.pst) and (.ost) files in Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, and in Outlook 2003. Follow the steps given in below link –
If you know any option to increase the OE .dbx file, plz do share here.
