An update for Wordpress 2.9.1 has just been released. The update fixes a security vulnerability that was alerted by Thomas Mackenzie.
The vulnerability exploits a new feature of Wordpress 2.9 – Trash. Because of this security vulnerability logged in users can peek at trashed posts belonging to other authors. If you have untrusted users signed up on your blog and sensitive posts in the trash, you should upgrade to 2.9.2. The Wordpress 2.9.2 update fixes this security vulnerability.
For upgrade you can visit the Tools->Upgrade menu of your Wordpress powered website.

Recently I deleted some categories and wanted to display related posts to the readers who are coming from various search engines to my blog, instead of page not found error for posts under those deleted categories. I was looking for plug-in which can do this work and I found exactly what I was looking for WP Greet Box.
WP Greet Box plug-in lets you show a different greeting message to your new visitors depending on their referrer URL. Greeting messages automatically get inserted into the top of your posts upon activation. There is no need to modify theme files. Ability to detect the visitor’s search keywords from major search engines and automatically display related posts under or above the greeting message.

There are almost all popular referrers like google.com, bing.com, digg.com and more installed by default, but if your favorite referrer is not on the list then you can easily create your own!
You can display a default greeting message even if the visitor does not match any of your configured referrer URL. It will show default greeting message even if the visitor does not have JavaScript enabled.
Having these targeted greeting messages will help your blog increase exposure, loyal readership, and reader interaction.

Here I’m listing top wordpress statistics plugins.
1. WordPress.com Stats
This plugin is created by Automattic to focus on just the most popular metrics a blogger wants to track and provide them in a clear and concise interface.
To run this plugin, all you need is to put in your API Key and the rest is automatic.

It shows your pageviews, which posts and pages are the most popular, where your traffic is coming from, and what people click on when they leave. It’ll also add a link to your dashboard which allows you to see all your stats on a single page.
2. Google Analytics for WordPress
The Google Analytics for WordPress plugin automatically tracks and segments all outbound links from within posts, comment author links, links within comments, blogroll links and downloads. It also allows you to track AdSense clicks, add extra search engines, track image search queries and it will even work together with Urchin.
